Sales Navigator Core vs Advanced: is $40 more worth it?
Core is $119.99 a month, Advanced is $159.99 — a difference of $40 per seat per month, $480 a year. The search is identical on both tiers. Everything you are paying the difference for is a team feature, so the honest answer depends on how many people are on the team.
It is a team-size question
Four of the five Advanced features need colleagues to do anything. Unless Smart Links alone is worth $40 a month to you, you would be paying $480 a year for warm-intro paths through a network of one.
Not enough combined network for TeamLink to surface paths worth acting on, and collisions between two sellers are still cheap to resolve by talking to each other.
The crossover. Shared lists stop duplicate outreach, and TeamLink has enough network behind it to be more than a novelty.
Smart Links is the one feature that pays on a single seat, because page-level engagement data is not obtainable any other way inside LinkedIn.
What is identical on both tiers
Worth reading before the differences table, because it is the half that decides most purchases — and LinkedIn's own comparison page does not present it this way.
| Attribute | Core ($119.99) | Advanced ($159.99) | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lead and account search filters | 40+ filters | 40+ filters | Identical. The upgrade buys no search power at all. |
| Search result cap | 2,500 per search | 2,500 per search | Identical, and it is a hard ceiling on both. |
| InMail credits | 50 / month | 50 / month | Identical. If credits are your constraint, neither tier fixes it. |
| Saved leads / accounts | 10,000 each | 10,000 each | Identical, and far above what a seat works through in a year. |
| Real-time alerts | Included | Included | Identical. |
Everything $40 a month actually buys
| Feature | Core | Advanced | When it is worth it |
|---|---|---|---|
| TeamLink | ✗ | ✓ | Value scales with team size. Worth nothing on one seat. |
| Smart Links | ✗ | ✓ | The only Advanced feature that is worth something on a single seat. |
| Buyer intent signals | ✗ | ✓ | No substitute exists — it is derived from data only LinkedIn holds. |
| Shared lists and team collaboration | ✗ | ✓ | Prevents two sellers working the same account blind. |
| CRM activity writeback | Basic contact sync only | Full activity writeback | Matters only if the CRM is the team’s system of record. |
Each tier in full on Core pricing and Advanced pricing. The ceilings that apply to both are on Sales Navigator limits.
Advanced has to save 10 minutes a week to pay for itself
$480 per seat per year, against a fully-loaded seller cost of $60 an hour, is 8 hours a year — about 10 minutes in each of 48 working weeks. Substitute your own hourly figure; the shape of the answer does not change much.
| Route | Relative size | Twelve-month total per seat |
|---|---|---|
| Core, year prepaideffective $89.99 a month | $1,079.88 | |
| Core, month to month$119.99 × 12 | $1,439.88 | |
| Advanced, year prepaideffective $149.99 a month | $1,799.88 | |
| Advanced, month to month$159.99 × 12 | $1,919.88 |
Note how little separates the two prepaid bars against how much separates the two monthly ones. Prepaying saves 25% on Core but only 6% on Advanced ($120 a year), because LinkedIn cut the monthly price of Advanced without cutting the annual one. On Advanced specifically, the twelve-month lock-in buys very little discount — the reasoning is on Advanced pricing.
US list prices in USD, excluding tax. LinkedIn bills in local currency in most markets and the converted figure is rarely a straight exchange-rate conversion, so treat this as the US baseline and confirm in your own billing page before committing to an annual term.
The questions this comparison raises
What is the difference between Sales Navigator Core and Advanced?
Five features: TeamLink warm-intro paths, Smart Links, buyer intent signals, shared team lists, and CRM activity writeback. Nothing else differs. The search filters, the 2,500-result cap, the 50 InMail credits and the 10,000 saved-lead ceiling are identical on both. Core is $119.99 a month and Advanced $159.99, so the five features cost $40 per seat per month.
Is Sales Navigator Advanced worth the extra money?
It is a team-size question, not a budget question. Four of the five features it adds are worth nothing on a single seat. At $480 per seat per year, Advanced has to save each seller roughly 8 hours a year — about 10 minutes a week — to break even at a fully-loaded cost of $60 an hour. On a team of five or more sharing accounts, deduplicated outreach alone usually clears that. On one or two seats it usually does not.
Does Sales Navigator Advanced have better search than Core?
No. This is the single most common misconception about the two tiers. The lead and account search, the filter set, the result cap and the saved-search allowance are identical. Advanced adds collaboration and signal, not reach.
Can I start on Core and upgrade to Advanced later?
Yes. LinkedIn credits the unused part of a monthly Core term against the upgrade. Upgrading part-way through a prepaid annual Core term is handled case by case, which is an argument for starting monthly if you are genuinely undecided.
Which tier is better for a solo founder?
Core, almost always. The one Advanced feature with standalone value on a single seat is Smart Links. If you send decks or case studies in every conversation that may justify $40 a month on its own — otherwise the other four features need colleagues to be worth anything.
Which tier is better for an SDR team?
Advanced, from about five seats up. Below that the team features have too little network behind them; above it, TeamLink starts surfacing real paths and shared lists stop two SDRs from working the same account unaware of each other.
