LinkedIn Premium vs Sales Navigator
The real comparison is Premium Business at $69.99 against Sales Navigator Core at $119.99. That $50 a month buys search — and if you are not searching, it buys you nothing at all.
One question decides it
Do you need to find people, or message people you have already found? Everything else follows from that.
Inbound leads, a list from elsewhere, referrals, your own network. Then you need credits, not filters — Premium Business at $69.99, or Career at $39.99 if 5 InMails a month is enough.
Prospecting by title, headcount, geography or funding signal, and tracking those leads over time. That is Sales Navigator Core, and Premium has no smaller version of it.
Premium Career, decisively. Applicant and salary insights and LinkedIn Learning are in it; Sales Navigator has none of them and costs three times as much.
Then neither. The weekly ceiling is ~100 on every paid plan — see limits by plan. That constraint is not one money lifts.
| Route | Relative size | Twelve-month cost |
|---|---|---|
| Premium Career$39.99 x 12 | $479.88 | |
| Premium Business$69.99 x 12 | $839.88 | |
| Sales Navigator Core$119.99 x 12 | $1,439.88 | |
| Core, as a seat from us$40 x 12 | $480.00 |
The bar worth staring at is the last one: a Sales Navigator seat through us costs about what Premium Career costs from LinkedIn. The search layer stops being a $50-a-month decision and becomes a $0.01-a-month one.

The three rows that decide most purchases are search results, saved lists and alerts — all three are the search layer, and all three are absent from both Premium tiers. The rows that decide the fewest are the ones people shop on: InMail credits, which you can run out of on any tier, and the invitation ceiling, which is identical everywhere.
Premium vs Sales Navigator, answered
What is the difference between LinkedIn Premium and Sales Navigator?
Premium improves the profile you already have — more InMail credits, who viewed you, and LinkedIn Learning. Sales Navigator is a search tool: advanced lead and account filters, saved lists of up to 10,000 leads, and alerts when those leads change job or post. If your work is finding people you do not yet know of, that search layer is the entire difference and Premium does not have a smaller version of it.
Is Sales Navigator worth $50 more than Premium Business?
Only if you search. Sales Navigator Core is $119.99 against Premium Business at $69.99. The $50 buys 35 more InMail credits, 2,500 search results instead of 1,000, saved lead lists and alerts. If you mainly message people you already identified some other way, you are paying $50 a month for credits you could get 35 of for nothing by not upgrading.
Can I have LinkedIn Premium and Sales Navigator at the same time?
Yes, and they bill separately and stack on the same profile. It is rarely worth it: Sales Navigator already lifts the commercial use limit and gives more InMail than either Premium tier, so the only thing the Premium subscription adds on top is LinkedIn Learning and the longer who-viewed-you window.
Does Sales Navigator let me send more connection requests than Premium?
No. The weekly invitation ceiling is roughly 100 on every plan LinkedIn sells, including Recruiter at $170. No subscription raises it. If invitations are your constraint rather than search, neither of these products solves it.
Which is better for job hunting, Premium or Sales Navigator?
Premium Career, and it is not close. It is the cheapest paid tier at $39.99, and it carries the things a job hunt uses — applicant and salary insights, who viewed your profile, and LinkedIn Learning. Sales Navigator has none of those; it is a prospecting tool sold to sellers.
