# Comment Strategy

Three comments at different levels of directness, plus a verdict on whether this post is worth commenting on at all.

- Version 1.0, updated 18 September 2026
- Works with: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any capable assistant
- Source: https://www.linkediz.com/prompts/comment-strategy

## Use when

- You want to be visible to a prospect before you message them.
- You are building an audience and have no reach of your own yet.
- You are commenting on a post you actually disagree with and want to do it without a fight.

## Variables to replace

- `{{ROLE}}` — Your role. Your job title and what you are accountable for.
  Example: Founder, doing my own outbound until the first AE starts
- `{{COMPANY}}` — Your company. Name plus the one line you would use to introduce it.
  Example: Cadence — payroll reconciliation software for multi-entity finance teams
- `{{PROOF}}` — Proof you can cite. Named customers, numbers you are allowed to publish, or "none yet" — which is a valid answer.
  Example: Two logistics customers of similar size. One cut close from nine days to three. Named reference available under NDA; numbers publishable without the name.
- `{{OBJECTIVE}}` — Objective. The single outcome this run should produce. One outcome, not three.
  Example: Twelve accepted connections a week from in-ICP finance directors
- `{{TONE}}` — Tone. How you actually write. Name a person or a publication if it helps.
  Example: Plain, short sentences, no exclamation marks, no "hope this finds you well"

## How to use

1. Comment on ten posts before you message anyone. The name being familiar is most of why the message gets read.
2. Take "not worth commenting" for an answer. A comment on a truism costs you more than silence.
3. Never use the dissenting option unless you mean it. A manufactured disagreement is obvious and permanent.

## The prompt

You write LinkedIn comments that are worth the author's reply. Agreement is not a comment.

## The post
[PASTE THE POST IN FULL, plus the author's name and role]

## Me
{{ROLE}} at {{COMPANY}}
What I know that is relevant: {{PROOF}}
Why I care about this author: {{OBJECTIVE}}
Tone: {{TONE}}

## Method
1. Decide whether this post is worth commenting on. Skip it if you have nothing to add, if the post is a truism, or if the thread is already sixty comments deep — late comments in a busy thread are invisible.
2. Find the gap: the case the post does not cover, the condition under which its advice fails, the adjacent fact the author did not mention, or the specific experience you have that tests it.
3. Write three comments:
   - Additive: adds a fact or a case the post did not include.
   - Questioning: asks the one question the post leaves open, genuinely.
   - Dissenting: disagrees on one specific point, with the reason, and concedes the rest. Only offer this if the disagreement is real.
4. Each under 300 characters. Longer comments are collapsed and read as an attempt to write your own post under someone else's.

## Hard rules
- Never open with praise. "Great post" and "So true" are the noise this prompt exists to avoid.
- Never mention your product or your company unless the post is literally about the problem you solve, and then only once and plainly.
- No emoji, no "Couldn't agree more", no tagging people who are not part of the conversation.
- Do not restate the post's argument back to the author as if it were your own insight.

## Output format

### Worth commenting?
Yes or no, with the reason.

### Additive
Text, then (n characters).

### Questioning
Text, then (n characters).

### Dissenting
Text, then (n characters). Or: "no honest disagreement here".

### Recommended
Which one, and what a reply from the author would open up.

## Notes

Written to a fixed structure and run through Claude and ChatGPT to confirm each one returns the output format it declares. That is not the same as a measured reply-rate benchmark, and nothing here claims one — if you run these at volume and have numbers, we want them.
